Plato’s monotheism was much discussed in 17th and 18th century France and this forms the basis of Professor Volpihac-Auger’s comparative analysis of Plato and Socrates during the Enlightenment. Catherine Volpihac-Auger is professor of French Literature at the École Normale Supérieure de Lettres et Sciences Humanes in Lyon.
