Noah and Noesis: Derrida between Greek and Jew

Dr. Leonard looks at Jacques Derrida’s uneasy relationship of his own Jewish identity and the Western philosophical traditions of Judaism and Hellenism.

While some commentators place the French post-Structuralist thinker somewhere between Levinas and Heidegger, the emphasis here lies with firmly situating Derrida with Hegel and Kant.

Miriam Leonard is lecturer in Greek Literature and its Reception at University College London (UCL).
