Ben Heller – Finding Pleasure in Plebeian Lives
This paper explores some of the motivations plebeian Londoners expressed when pursuing recreational activities and sociability. Falling into two parts, the paper first offers insights into ways middling and labouring Londoners understood the topography of leisure in the metropolis. It then discusses how social relationships developed and ways that the significance of connections formed while pursuing amusement were assessed.
