Professor Wang Hui (Tsinghua University, Beijing) – How to interpret ‘China’ and Its ‘Modernity’
This is the first of two lectures (29th & 30th October) being given by Wang Hui, professor of intellectual history at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Sent for compulsory “re-education” for his role in the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, Wang is a leading member of China’s “new left” movement and a past editor of Dushu, one of China’s most influential literary journals. His most recent book is The End of the Revolution: China and the Limits of Modernity
