Professor Ian Kinloch (Manchester) – Graphene: unexpected science in a pencil line
Graphene has caused much excitement since its first isolation in 2004 due to the extraordinary properties that occur when a material is taken down to a 2-dimensional sheet just one atom thick. We will look at ways to make graphene from using bits of sticky tape through to mass production, the properties of this material, its potential applications and the new generation of functional materials which are being built atomic layer by atomic layer.
