Professor Michaela Ott (HFBK, Hamburg) – Dividuations: Theories of participation

This seminar will address the question of whether we can still consider ourselves as individuals, as undivided entities. Wouldn’t it make more sense to conceive of ourselves as intersections of different sorts of participation, ie. as specific dividuations? Dividuation is an ambivalent concept. It points at our voluntary participations as well as our involuntary captures, demanding new modes of moderation of ourselves.
