Professor Elguja Khintibidze (Tbilisi State University) and Dr. Henry Sanford – Britain-Georgia Connection through Personalities & Arts; Rustaveli and Shakespeare
This event explores the Britain-Georgia Connection through two talks.
The first, on the theme of Personalities & Arts, consists of a talk on the British-Georgian actress Gayane Mickeladze by Dr. Henry Sanford (her nephew). The talk includes her family history in Georgia, including stories of their friendship with Sir Oliver Wardrop (British Commissioner in Georgia), her childhood in Crimea, escape from the communists to England via Constantinople, and her life as an actress in London.
The second talk is by Prof Elguja Khintibidze, who will present his book on the links between Rustaveli and Shakespeare.
