Rachel Seiffert – Lest we forget
Remembering is essential, to nations and individuals alike; memorials and commemorations, in all their various forms, have a significant role to play in this process. But they are often disputed, and this discord can be deeply revealing. Rachel Seiffert, a German-British author, will explore these issues in the context of her own family history, the German post-Holocaust experience, and more recent political developments in this country and beyond.
Rachel Seiffert has published four novels, most recently A Boy in Winter. Her books have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize, and longlisted three times for the Women’s Prize for Fiction. In 2003, she was named one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists, and in 2011 received the EM Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She lives in London with her family.
